Superintendent’s Report for December 2011

Over the past month the highway has been replacing traffic signs throughout the Town that are faded and do not meet the state's qualifications, being of high intensity and reflectivity . Road signs are also being replaced as needed and attached with rivets to discourage theft. If anyone comes across a traffic sign that has been knocked down or is missing, please contact the high way department.

We also had to replace a culvert on Kibbie Lake Road and cleaned several others out, and we still have a crew out filling potholes and cutting and trimming trees along the road sides. The plows have only been out three times so far this fall, which gives up an opportunity to catch up on some of our garage maintenance and housekeeping duties.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas.

Superintendent’s Report for January 2012

So far it has been a real easy winter. We haven't used nearly the salt we usually do for this time of the year. On average we would have used around 400 ton by now, where we've only been through 300 ton. But, as we all know, that could change at any time and turn out to be one of our worst winters.

I know the ice fisherman aren't very happy about this weather. We have been out cutting back the brush and trees on several of the town roads, and replacing road and traffic signs and patching pot holes. John stays busy doing preventive maintenance on our equipment .It won't be long and he'll want to start servicing our summer equipment, mowers and paver.
